Here are some things to know if you are experiencing pain from athletic activity, whether you are an elite athlete or a weekend warrior:
1) A balanced approach to treatment will get patients back to normal mobility as safely as possible. We know that it’s frustrating to stay out of commission while undergoing treatment. We also know that it’s in our patients’ best interest to heal before they get back to full activity levels. By treating the underlying causes of pain, rather than simply masking it, we get our patients back into action with less risk of re-injury.
2) Early treatment is often easier treatment. Whether the injury is acute, such as a strained ankle or sprained back, or chronic, like a painful or swollen joint, the best time to seek treatment is right after you realize there’s a problem. The treatment times are often reduced with early action and there might be more options available.
3) Ongoing care is a key part of staying healthy and active. Some of the most successful active clients we see are those who come in regularly, even when they’re healthy. They have their chiropractor on their calendar weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. By keeping their structural support system well-maintained, they are helping to reduce their risk of injury and improve their overall comfort and well-being.
