Here are some things to know if you think you might be at increased risk for foot conditions because of your activity level, family history, or other factors:
1) Plantar fasciitis is a structural problem that affects your foundation. Plantar fasciitis is a painful inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick fibrous band of connective tissue originating on the bottom surface of the heel bone and extending along the sole towards the toes.
It’s a condition that causes discomfort in the short term and degeneration in the long term. The feet are the foundation of our body’s structure and those effects can spread up to other areas over time.
2) It can affect both the very active and the very still. Athletes are at a higher risk for developing plantar fasciitis, but so are people who stand for long periods of time. With early treatment, both groups can be back to their normal routines safely and comfortably.
3) We can offer plantar fasciitis treatment while you’re here and support when you‘re home. Our in-office treatments include adjusting the bones of the foot, deep tissue massage, taping, exercises, and more. Additionally, we have the resources to provide custom orthotics. These specially-made shoe inserts help keep patients more comfortable and structurally supported throughout daily activities.
